Blue Hill, ME – December 4, 2012 – Hydro-Photon, Inc.’s SteriPEN® portable UV water purifier has been recognized at the first inaugural TGO Great Outdoors Awards for its contribution to safe, fun and comfortable experiences outdoors.
“This product has revolutionized how we purify water,” the judges said in their announcement. “It’s the smallest UV water purifier and it just gets better with every iteration. It charges using a USB port, and by simply stirring it in water it destroys more than 99.9% of bacteria, viruses and protozoa.”
TGO Magazine readers submitted more than 18,000 votes in 12 categories that then went to a panel of expert judges to make the final decisions. SteriPEN, one of three product winners in the camping division, won the distinction of “Highly Commended.”
According to one of the judges, Andrew Denton of United Kingdom based Outdoor Industries Association: “Science beats foul tasting pills any day!”
Voters praised SteriPEN as improving their quality of life outdoors: “It has brought back the joy of drinking water from a mountain stream or melted snow. I was overjoyed to taste real water again. Ultra-lite hikers will love this product and it has world wide application.”
