Bend, Ore., June 9, 2010 – The Conservation Alliance is pleased to announce STM Bags as a new member. STM Bags is the maker of laptop bags that have crossover appeal to the outdoors professional. As the company grows, it is an important part of their overall business plan to align with organizations that help support their corporate social responsibility platform.

“STM is a small, entrepreneurial organization that is particularly interested in developing good habits,” said Adam Ziegelman, vice president of Global Marketing for STM Bags. “As we grow the business, we want to make sure we are building products that do the least amount of environmental harm possible. Being part of the Conservation Alliance will help us emulate other brands good work while sharing some of the innovative environmental improvements we’ve made.”

Based in Australia, STM Bags strives to reduce their environmental footprint by making durable products, reducing waste by eliminating product packaging and stuffing and shipping all products in biodegradable cornstarch bags. STM Bags also has an eco-friendly program in place called “Born to Be Green”, which is an ongoing corporate-wide commitment to continually reduce their ecological footprint.

“The Conservation Alliance looks forward to collaborating with STM Bags as their business grows,” said John Sterling, Conservation Alliance Executive Director “Together we will demonstrate that companies, large or small, can experience business growth while making meaningful contributions to conservation.”

About the Conservation Alliance:
The Conservation Alliance is an organization of outdoor businesses whose collective contributions support grassroots environmental organizations and their efforts to protect wild places where outdoor enthusiasts recreate. Alliance funds have played a key role in protecting rivers, trails, wildlands and climbing areas.

Membership in the Alliance is open to companies representing all aspects of the outdoor industry, including manufacturers, retailers, publishers, mills and sales representatives. The result is a diverse group of businesses whose livelihood depends on protecting our natural environment.

Since its inception in 1989, the Alliance has contributed more than $8.3 million to grassroots environmental groups. Alliance funding has helped save over 49.5 million acres of wildlands; 27 dams have either been stopped or removed; and the group helped preserve access to more than 17,000 miles of waterways and several climbing areas.
