Signs on as official headwear
Ironwood, MI – July 20, 2017

Stormy Kromer, makers of the world’s most recognizable cap, announced it is the official headwear of the 2017 US Ladies Match Fishing Team. The six anglers will be the first U.S. team to compete in the Annual Ladies Match Fishing World Championships, this year taking place in Szolnok, Hungary, August 26 and 27.
In support of the team, Stormy Kromer is selling official US Ladies Match Fishing Team hats on its website www.stormykromer.com, with a portion of sales going to support the team.
“We are proud to support these awesome women and be a part of the teams inaugural trip to the Championships,” said Gina Thorsen, president of Stormy Kromer.
The U.S. team includes of Barb Carey, Kristen Monroe, and Stormy Kromer ambassador Hannah Stonehouse Hudson, all of Wisconsin, Shelly Holland, of Minnesota, and match fishing veterans Elise De Villiers and Penelope Smit, of Florida.
In match fishing participants are confined to small areas along a bank, called pegs, where they try to catch the heaviest combined weight of fish during a set period of time. It is not uncommon for competitors to catch six or more fish per minute during a three-hour match. Equipment and tackle set-ups range widely depending on the situation, but competitors often use tiny #16 or #20 hooks to fish for small fish. However, they must be prepared to hook into larger fish on the same set up.
In addition to the proceeds from the team’s Stormy Kromer hat sales, the team is raising money to offset the costs of the competition. Individuals and businesses interested in helping are invited to make tax-deductible donations at www.gofundme.com/team-usa-ladies-match-fishing.
