San Francisco, Calif. (March 31, 2020) — Sufferfest, the low cal, high standards beer brand, proudly announces the renewed partnership with world-class ultrarunner Courtney Dauwalter to its powerhouse team of sufferers. Sufferfest will support Dauwaulter as she trains and competes across the globe for the 2020/2021 race season.
“Year over year, Courtney Dauwalter continues to awe and delight us with what the human body is capable of doing” said Sufferfest CEO and Founder Caitlin Landesberg. “She is an extraordinary athlete who appreciates great beer and I am ecstatic that she’s part of the team again this year!” Sufferfest launches Sufferstories, a video series that profiles athletes who break down what a “sufferfest” means to them in their own terms, from their unique perspective and Courtney is the first athlete featured.

For the second year in a row, Dauwalter was named 2019 UltraRunner of the Year, clinching first place finishes in the prestigious UTMB race in the Alps, Utah’s Behind the Rocks Ultra, Madeira Island Ultra Trail in Portugal, and the Tarawera 100K in New Zealand. In 2020, Dauwalter will continue to tackle some of the most impressive ultras on the planet. Notably, it includes the tortuous Big’s Backyard Ultra, dubbed a “cruel”, “sadistic” and “never-ending” ultra, where in 2018, she covered 279 miles in less than three days and finished second. Dauwalter has a history of taking on grueling sufferfests; in years past, she has won the Moab 240 Endurance Run, a 238-mile foot race through the desert, beating the next runner by a bewildering 10 hours, as well as the Run Rabbit Run100-mile, Tahoe 200 and the record-setting Javelina Jundred 100K.
“I love that Sufferfest gets me, my values, and supports my endeavors,” said Dauwalter. “I love sharing a beer with friends after my runs and workouts. I love what they represent — celebrating with a Sufferfest makes the occasion that much more special.”
Dauwalter is an integral member of Sufferfest’s sponsored roster. ”More than being an absolute badass on the trails, we are thrilled to work with Courtney because of the type of human she is and our common values,” said Landesberg. Sufferfest recently launched a #FairPlay initiative, focused on shining a light on female athletes and sports teams around the world who are showcasing excellency on and off the field.
This year, the Sufferfest brand will continue to distinguish itself as a leader, delivering the highest quality and most flavorful low-cal beers.. This Spring they will launch a fresh new look to their cans and cartons and release a much anticipated Gut Check low cal IPA with apple cider vinegar, brewed specifically to be enjoyed after any good effort.
