World’s most advanced ski racing helmet brings home top honors from the world’s premier outdoor trade show

TRYSIL – Sweet Protection’s newest racing helmet, the Rooster Discesa RS, was honored for design excellence with an ISPO Gold Award at the annual ISPO outdoor tradeshow. This helmet, used by professional alpine ski racers like Henrik Kristoffersen and Aksel Lund Svindal in the World Cup, is the most advanced ski racing helmet ever developed.

“With the Rooster Discesa RS, we wanted to engineer the best race helmet possible,” says Ståle Møller, Sweet Protection`s Head of Design. “It tookthree years of hard work and development to make our vision a reality, so it makes me very proud and happy that the jury of the ISPO Awards recognized our achievement.”

Each year, ISPO honors the very best new outdoor products with the ISPO Award. This award is recognized throughout the international outdoor community and only one top product in each category takes home the prestigious ISPO Gold Award.

Designed to be the safest helmet on the market while remaining compact and lightweight, the Rooster Discesa RS blends the most cutting edge materials available with advanced designs and engineering to maximize impact performance and minimize injury.

The Rooster Discesa RS features a carbon fiber reinforced polymer shell for an outstanding strength to weight ratio, rigidity, and impact performance; a molded EPS liner with Impact Shield inserts to provide unsurpassed low volume shock absorption; and the MIPS (Multi- Directional Impact Protection System) to further help prevent head injury. In case of an emergency, the helmet comes with a quick release system so it can be removed easily without any motion of the head.

The Rooster Discesa RS is the only MIPS-equipped helmet on the market that meets the new FIS RH 2013 standard for ski racing helmets. This helmet, along with the rest of the award-winning Sweet Protection helmet and apparel offering, will be available in North America for fall 2015. Images are available HERE.
