Sympatex Reflexion® Heats Up Performance Fabric Market

Hampton, NH – A new reflective property added to the Sympatex® waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane provides a highly effective thermal barrier resulting in less need for insulation. Sympatex Reflexion®, from Sympatex Technologies, will be introduced at the Outdoor Retailer Show, booth 38181, in Salt Lake City January 27-30, 2007.

Sympatex Reflexion is created through a sophisticated production process whereby a very thin (50nm) and even layer of aluminum vapor is deposited onto the Sympatex nonporous membrane. Used as a direct, insert or lining laminate, apparel and footwear made with Sympatex Reflexion radiate heat back to the body, thus keeping you warmer without the need of additional layers of insulation. Sympatex Reflexion can also be used in tents and sleeping bags.

According to the Swiss research firm EMPA, jackets made with Sympatex Reflexion return more than 75% of the body’s infrared heat back to the wearer.

In addition to its high performance characteristics, Sympatex is also very environmentally friendly. Made of 100% polyester, Sympatex contains no halogens and no solvents are used to make it. Sympatex can be easily recycled at the end of a garment’s functional life without the risk of environmental damage. Because Sympatex Reflexion requires less insulation, tons of raw materials can be saved each year.
