Nevada City, CA – The Wild and Scenic® Film Festival has hired Mike Mooers to serve as the Sponsorship Liaison for the coming season. The largest festival of its kind, Wild and Scenic draws thousands to the small Northern California town of Nevada City for a weekend of films, workshops, activism, and good times each January. It then launches on a tour that takes it to over 100 locations in the United States and abroad.

Says Leslie Jacobson, Festival Director: “This is an amazing festival – one that inspires, educates, entertains and truly changes lives. Without our sponsors it would not exist as it does, and we hired Mike to make sure we have the relationships that work for the festival to help get the filmmakers’ messages out to the world.”

Sponsorship levels exist at a variety of tiers, but one of the festival’s goals this year is secure a Presenting Sponsor, one that would serve as the major partner in sustaining the festival for its ninth season and perhaps years to come.

“We have great sponsors. National sponsors like Patagonia, Osprey, Clif Bar, Sierra Nevada Brewing, and Tom’s of Maine have been huge supporters,” says Mooers. “our local folks such as our Founding Sponsor, AJA Video, are tremendously important and valued not just as sponsors but as friends.”

But with the festival growing, Jacobson feels that the climate is ripe for increased sponsor opportunities. Mooers sees the opening. “This has been dubbed The Next Sundance, we are extending our reach and elevating our profile. The time is perfect for a company that shares our values to create an alliance that will appeal to their customers – existing and potential.”

The Wild and Scenic® Film Festival will run January 14th – 16th in Nevada City. The event is organized and hosted by the South Yuba River Citizens League. For 27 years this grassroots environmental organization has been bringing the community together around the protection of the Yuba Watershed.

In its eight years, the festival has hosted well over 20,000 attendees including more than 400 top filmmakers, celebrities, activists, explorers, and outdoor athletes. It has screened over 500 inspirational films, including more premiers than any environmental film festival in the country.
