Tatoo flagship store in Quito expands.

Tatoo Adventure Gear has already begun with phase 2 (out of 3) of the expansion project at its mega-store in Quito, Ecuador. This second phase comprises an open mezzanine of about 5,400 sq. ft. in its entirety. The objective of the project is to include new brands and to expand categories as part of the offering to their customers.

Following the original structure of the building, a 30-feet-high former textile factory built on the 60s, the design of this modular expansion will maintain iron and wood as main materials. The design stage of phase 2 is underway and the construction is expected to finish on November 2013.

With this second phase, the adventure travel, electronics and bookstore sections will be broadened, and the mezzanine will include a coffee shop for people to gather to plan their next outdoor adventures in a relaxed atmosphere. This expansion will therefore allow the growth of the apparel category on the main floor. The current 19,000 sq. ft. store has already an auditorium for community use, as well as a world class bike workshop.

Tatoo’s mid-term strategy is to replicate this mega-store format in other South American countries where they already operate as wholesalers and retailers, as they find the appropriate premises that suit the many requirements this kind of projects demand.
