Park City, UT (September 20, 2021) – Inconvenient and wasteful paper ski resort maps will soon be a thing of the past. Today, Aleck, the company behind the Aleck 006™ universal audio and communications system, announces their partnership with MapSynergy to serve up SkiMap, the most technically accurate digital ski resort maps available in North America. With an aim to make adventure sport more social, safe and immersive, the ski resort maps feature will show users the real-time GPS location of everyone in their group, so no one gets left behind. Aleck is launching this newest feature of the free Aleck GO! mobile app to make it even easier to stay together with family and friends … powder day rules notwithstanding.
The SkiMap database currently covers over 375 ski resorts in the United States and will also soon feature 12 top Canadian resorts in beautiful detail. High context digital maps provide every bit of information the paper maps contain, including locations for First Aid stations, restrooms, restaurants and transportation, along with highly detailed terrain features including topo lines, tree glades, terrain parks, gates and more.
“We absolutely love this SkiMap partnership because it brings useful innovation to every skier/snowboarder, while keeping family and friends focused on their sport and each other,” said Stephen Catterson, Aleck’s Founder and CEO. “Technical capabilities aside, my favorite aspect of this partnership is that by adding digital maps to our mobile platform, we’re hoping to reduce the use of paper maps and provide a more sustainably-conscious option for our users.”
Aleck is an award-winning audio and communications technology company with a mission to become the most widely used solution for adventure sport and travel. In their first year on the market (2020), the brand jumped several aging incumbents, taking the #1 snow helmet audio position in North America. With the push of a button, their flagship product the Aleck 006™ delivers wireless audio and comms to any compatible snow helmet. Adding SkiMap to its capabilities marks another milestone in their mission to help users expand their adventure and enhance the overall mountain experience.
Commenting on the new partnership, Matt Liapis, Founder of MapSynergy, said, “With pass prices what they are, we should be enjoying every minute on the snow. That is what makes this collaboration with Aleck so great. Through the help of ski resort maps and GPS location, we’re reducing time spent figuring out where your crew is.”
Along with the detailed maps, V3 of Aleck GO! will feature updated capabilities for stronger network connectivity on the mountain. Now users will only need a 2G signal or higher to use Aleck GO! for full communications and GPS location and mapping. UI/UX interface improvements include higher contrast graphics and a more intuitive user interface, making it easier to use the app while riding in variable conditions.
The Aleck GO! mobile app is free to download on the Apple/Mac App Store and Google Play. Just in time for ski season, the Aleck GO! V3 update will be available starting November 1st, 2021. Aleck GO! users will get their first resort map for free, with additional downloads priced between $1.99 – $2.99 per map. For more information, please visit aleck.io and get connected!
