Tecnica Races to Tor Des Geants

Tecnica SpA and its affiliates ramp up their support for trail runners and trail running events worldwide, from local grassroots events to the longest endurance race of its kind, the Tor Des Geants.

Tecnica SpA has been a primary sponsor for the past three years of the Tor Des Geants, an ultra trail race that takes place in Courmayeur, Italy, September 9 – 16, 2012. The race covers 200 miles through 34 cities and villages, passing 30 mountain lakes with an elevation gain of 74,781 feet over 25 peaks. Over five hundred runners from 25 countries take part in this challenging race.

Tecnica USA ambassador and extreme ultra runner, Daniel Probst from Bellingham, Washington, will be competing with the International Tecnica team in the 2012 Tor des Geants. Probst, an avid endurance runner, trail advocate, and race director, has participated in numerous ultra running events throughout the world including the 2010 Tor des Geants in which he placed first among runners from the U.S.

“The Tor Des Geants race motto should read ‘be afraid’”, commented Probst. “But the race takes place in a magical place of beauty. Its people live with a passion for mountain life, culture and community. It’s a one of a kind race!”

He has also competed in some of the hardest races in the U.S. and Canada: the Hardrock 100, Cascade Crest 100, Arrowhead 135, and Rock and Ice 225K.

Back in the U.S, Tecnica USA continues to build their trail running program supporting races such as the Western Hew Hampshire Trail Series and the brands’ own “Catch Me if You Can” trail challenges in Utah and Colorado. Additionally, the brand is working with a handful of ambassadors across the country, including Probst, who test product, provide development feedback and support the brand at local races and events.
