Boulder, CO – Teko is proud to announce they have purchased certified offsets for their Green House Gas (GHG) emissions from the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX.) Teko purchased enough offsets to cover 100% of the transportation of their Tasmanian EcoMerino™ Wool, as well as the transportation for their employees and rep force.
GHGs are gases released into the atmosphere and have been found to contribute to climate change. The burning of fossil fuels during transportation is one of the largest contributors of GHGs. Therefore Teko chose to offset their total transportation emissions by calculating aggregate fuel consumption of employees, sales force, and Tasmanian wool transport.
Teko is the first company in the Outdoor Industry to join the Chicago Climate Exchange. Teko chose the CCX as their partner to offset for GHG emissions because the CCX is the world’s first and North America’s only voluntary, legally binding, rules-based greenhouse gas emission reduction and trading system. The CCX’s reduction and trading system takes a progressive approach to get companies to commit to reducing their emissions. For more information on the CCX please visit: www.chicagoclimatex.com.
Teko’s purchase of emissions offsets further demonstrates their commitment to environmental responsibility and leadership in the outdoor industry.
