Bozeman, Mont. (January 26, 2012)Teko Socks, an innovative leader in both high performance and lifestyle socks, continues its commitment to sustainability through the company’s on-going compliance with several third-party environmental certifiers, including, bluesign®,McDonough Braunart Design Cemistry (MBDC) and OekoTex Standard 100®.

“It is impossible to produce a product without using energy and natural resources, so it is our job to minimize our environmental impact at every stage of production,” said Shawn Pritchett, sales director for Teko. “We are constantly researching new materials and production techniques to reduce our footprint.”

Whether it’s through the design or construction of Teko socks, the company’s dedication to minimizing its environmental impact can be seen at every stage of production. Following strict procedures to ensure that the company complies with the requirements set by these third party organizations, Teko commits to the following:

  • Working with a MBDC certified dye house – Ensuring the use of non-toxic dyes, alternative energy sources, water protection guidelines and transparency in corporate ethics and fair labor practices.
  • Complying with the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 – Using dyes free of allergens, carcinogens, heavy metals and formaldehyde.
  • Working with a bluesign® certified plant to dye wool – Ensuring that Teko socks can not only be counted on for stellar performance, but are also safe for the environment and human beings.

Produced exclusively in the USA, Teko has pioneered the sustainable performance sock category through the use of sustainable business practices and sourcing. Teko uses the only bluesign® certified shrink-proofing process available for wool. The chlorine-free process used to make M3RINO.XC™ machine-washable and shrink-proof has been awarded a “blue certification,” the highest possible bluesign® rating.
