(Vail, Colo.) – The tenth anniversary of the Teva Mountain Games (TMG) in Vail, June 2-5, is going to the dogs, literally. TMG, the nation’s largest mountain sports, art and lifestyle festival, is pleased to announce the Eukanuba Rocky Dog Trail Run presented by Ruff Wear – an on-leash one mile or 5K trail race held on Vail Mountain for dogs and their owners.
“The Eukanuba Rocky Dog Trail Run combines two of the most popular elements of the Teva Mountain Games: dogs and running,” said Mike Imhof, vice president of sales and operations for the Vail Valley Foundation, organizers of the annual event. “Dog trail-running races are catching on in certain parts of the country, and with Eukanuba’s growing involvement at the Teva Mountain Games and the pet-friendly atmosphere, it seemed like a natural evolution for us to add this dog-and-owner ‘team’ event to our roster.”
The Eukanuba Rocky Dog Trail Run presented by Ruff Wear is scheduled for Sunday, June 5 at 11:30 a.m. The race begins at the base of Golden Peak where competitors funnel onto a singletrack trail that winds around Vail Mountain. All dogs must be leashed for the duration of the run/walk.
In addition to the Eukanuba Rocky Dog presented by Ruff Wear, the Teva Mountain Games host the annual Eukanuba DockDogs water event, which includes the Speed Retrieve, Big Air WAVE and Extreme Vertical competitions, and is open to amateur and professional competitors. The TMG DockDogs competitions are also Zone Qualifiers for the DockDogs World Championships.
