The Adventure Theatre Presents Jeff Lowe Films at OR

Stop by the Adventure Theatre on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to view a series of films and presentations featuring alpinist Jeff Lowe.

Free Climbing the Nameless Tower of Trango – Documentary Film–will be shown at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20th. In this classic climbing film, Jeff Lowe and Catherine Destivelle make the 2nd completely free ascent of the iconic Karakoram tower in Pakistan. Join Catherine as she explores local markets and ceremonies. On the climb they added a new, 7-pitch direct start to the Slovenian route. See stunning scenes of the early stages of the all-free ethic as applied to the worlds’ greatest granite monoliths. Produced by Jeff Lowe and David Breashears for broadcast on ABC in 1990. CBS broadcast of the 1988 International Sport Climbing Championships at Snowbird, Utah will be shown at 2pm on Saturday, January 22.  A rare showing of the famous 1988 Sport Climbing Championships. Very dramatic footage and exciting climbing! Jeff Lowe conceived the event, worked with the architects of the Cliff Lodge to design a climbing wall that was aesthetically matched to the building, attracted the world’s best climbers and directed the overall event. To many climbers and spectators who were there, Snowbird still ranks high among the best competitive climbing events ever organized. Produced by Bob Carmichael and Denali Productions. Cloudwalker – A Documentary Film, A Banff Mountain Film Festival Winner – 1985 will be shown at 10:30am on Sunday January 23rd.  This 1984 classic is directed by Michael Tobias, profiles Jeff Lowe and Mark Wilford. Beautiful scenes of a failed attempt on the Moose’s Tooth in the Central Alaska Range are juxtaposed with new routes in Colorado and an ascent of the ultra-classic Naked Edge.
