Charlottesville, VA, February 11th, 2014 — Whole Foods is returning to support the community it has been serving for two decades as the title sponsor of the Charlottesville Whole Foods Half Marathon. The Half Marathon is one of four events (in conjunction with the full Marathon, 8K and Kids Marathon) that will be taking place in historic Charlottesville on April 5th, 2014. Whole Foods Market is geared up for a spirited weekend and will be offering the highest quality natural and organic foods to runners both pre-and-post-race in conjunction with their “Healthy Eating” program.

To kick off Marathon weekend, Whole Foods will be hosting the innovative “Bibs & Breakfast” at the Hydraulic Road location from 8am – 11am on Friday, April 4th. Athletes and families can purchase tickets for $5/person to this event for a complete and nutritious “Whole Foods Market” certified breakfast featuring pancakes, bagels, fresh fruit and oatmeal. The breakfast menu will be designed by Whole Foods Market’s healthy eating team in conjunction with the Charlottesville Marathon Athlete Advisory Board. With pre-registration for Bibs & Breakfast, runners can also elect to pick up their race bib and timing chip. T-shirts will be available for pickup at the Race Expo (located on the Historic Downtown Mall) beginning at 1pm on Friday.
“We are really excited to be back for a third year supporting runners in Charlottesville,” says Kristen Rabourdin, Marketing Team Leader for the Charlottesville Whole Foods Market. “Being able to set each runner up for a successful race by offering nutritious options for a pre-race Friday breakfast is something that we are proud to offer. Plus, what a fun way to meet other runners… sharing a meal is one of the most profound ways to connect with each other.”
After crossing the finish line on Saturday, runners should look for the Whole Foods tent in the Miller Lite Beer Garden to find a healthy and fulfilling post-race meal. With a local band playing and the sights and sounds of the Historic Charlottesville Downtown Mall, there is no hurry to leave the party!
