BOULDER, Colo. – May 15, 2012 – The GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run, one of the United States’ most storied trail races, today announces it has sold out of the Run3 entries. Added two years ago to offer individual runners a chance to tackle some of the same terrain as their team counterparts, Run3 is a race within the full six-day stage race. Beginning August 14, 2012 in Buena Vista, Colorado and finishing August 16th in Camp Hale, the six-day race ends August 19 in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
Also announced today is Backcountry.com’s official retail partnership with the GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run. Runners and outdoor enthusiasts seeking the best fitting and performance gear visit Backcountry.com, the web’s most comprehensive source for GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run essentials.
“We are thrilled to have Backcountry.com join the GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run this year,” said race director Aaron McConnell. “Backcountry.com seeks to give the consumer the best online buying experience and offers top quality gear. Similarly, the GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run offers runners an amazing adventure with the best amenities.”
This year’s GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run will cover 117 miles through the Colorado Rockies. While Run3’s entries are capped, the entire event – Run3 and the Team classification – is at 80% capacity. Runners wishing to fill the remaining Team entries can register at www.transrockies.com.
The Run3 will offer Open Men’s and Open Women’s divisions and reach the same oxygen-grasping altitudes of close to 13,000 feet during its stages. Despite Run3 being sold out, athletes are encouraged to sign the no obligation wait list, which will grant entry if a pre-registered runner bows out.
“For the past six years, Gore has been a proud partner of the GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run, a race with unparalleled momentum (in the industry) and life-affirming challenges for all participants, whether it is the runners at the front of the pack or at the back,” said Kirk Christensen, Product Specialist Running at Gore. “We are delighted each year to work with the organizers behind TransRockies who are some of the most talented and passionate people in the endurance sports industry.”
