SEATTLE, WA — For more than 40 years Therm-a-Rest has pursued one goal: to provide the best night of sleep in the outdoors. From the world’s first self-inflating mattress in 1972 to the widely acclaimed NeoAir® mattresses, Therm-a-Rest has consistently engineered the most innovative sleep solutions.
With a new collection of seven light, packable and extremely comfortable down and synthetic sleeping bags and blankets, Therm-a-Rest delivers yet again. Each new product is designed to work seamlessly with a mattress for greater warmth and freedom of movement. The result is a dramatically better sleeping experience.
“After 40 years of studying outdoor sleep, we’ve learned your sleeping bag and mattress must work together as an integrated system to provide optimal comfort and warmth,†said Doug Jacot, vice president of Therm-a-Rest. “This new line has been designed to eliminate common problems people experience with sleeping bags and give them a better night’s rest so they can be more productive the next day.â€
Through cold-chamber testing, fieldwork, independent test results and decades of product development and consumer feedback, Therm-a-Rest has identified those common problems as: restricted ability to move comfortably in the bag, inefficient loss of warmth and inability to stay connected to a mattress.
The new Therm-a-Rest sleeping bags are equipped to combat those problems. Two patent-pending SynergyLinkâ„¢ mattress connectors create the most secure, comfortable mattress connection in the industry. The flexible bands create a snug fit around any mattress—up to 25 inches (63 cm) wide—to keep insulation centered and eliminate problems with sliding, twisting and cold spots. Unlike conventional bags, loft is concentrated in the top of Therm-a-Rest bags to better trap rising warm air, and reduced or removed in the bottom where a mattress provides insulation from the ground. Finally, the Efficient Comfort fit perfectly matches the body’s natural resting positions – especially side sleeping — allowing shoulders, elbows, and hips to move without restriction. Remarkably, Therm-a-Rest delivers these solutions in bags that are among the lightest available on the market.
Therm-a-Rest’s ultralight down bags and blankets feature high-loft goose down (750+ fill in the bags; 700+ fill in the blanket) for excellent warmth and compressibility:
-Antares™: At just 1 lb. 15 oz.,(890g) this bag is extremely lightweight and its 20 °F/-7 °C rating makes it one of the most efficient choices for three-season backpacking comfort.
-Altair™: For adventurers planning mid-winter trips, this lightweight, 2 lb., 7 oz. (1120g) bag is ideal for use in 0 °F/ -18 °C environments.
-Navis™: This superlight, 1 lb. 5 oz. (610g) hoodless bag is rated for 25-45 °F/-4-7 °C and designed for alpinists and other minimalists who will use it with a down jacket.
-Alpine™ Blanket: The award-winning Alpine Blanket is updated for the launch with a new color but still offers summer season warmth (35 °F/2 °C) at an ultralight 1 lb. 9 oz. (715g).
Therm-a-Rest’s synthetic bags and blankets feature the brand’s premium EraLoftâ„¢ insulation—a proprietary synthetic insulation that uses three distinct fibers to create a structure that is lightweight, compressible, warm, and hydrophobic:
-Saros™: A 20 °F/-7 °C (2 lb 15 oz. / 1345g) bag offering all-weather performance and warmth for three-season backpacking.
-Centari™: 0 °F/-18 °C (3 lb. 15 oz. / 1800g) features extra warmth for cold sleepers.
-Regulus™ Blanket: A 40 °F/ 4 °C (2 lbs. 2 oz. / 994g) summer blanket offering unrestricted freedom of movement for warm-weather camping and backpacking.
Each bag comes with the Therm-a-Rest Sleeping Bag Promise, which guarantees superior comfort and quality. If any customer is less than satisfied with their new sleeping bag or blanket, Therm-a-Rest will take it back.
Therm-a-Rest’s new line of sleeping bags and blankets debuts in August at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, USA. The line will be available in stores in January 2013.
