Seattle, U.S.A. — Therm-a-Rest, the Seattle-based industry leader in premium outdoor comfort, is proud to celebrate its second year sponsoring the 2012-13 Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival and North American Film Tour, which showcases the world’s best outdoor films, books and photographs and inspires 150,000 outdoor enthusiasts through 300-plus tour screenings across the United States and Canada.
The 2012-13 Festival kicked off October 27 at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, and will run through October 2013. This year’s films, curated by the jury of the Banff Mountain Film Festival, take viewers to far-flung corners of the globe and to the limits of human endurance. They bring adventure and inspiration to outdoor enthusiasts, many of whom anxiously await the festival’s regional visit year after year.
Sponsorship of the festival is a perfect fit for Therm-a-Rest, who invented the world’s first portable and self-inflating mattress in 1972 and in 2013 launches an exciting new line of sleeping bags that offer a dramatically better night’s sleep, allowing outdoor enthusiasts to be well-rested and get the most out of their adventures.
“We are proud and honored to be part of the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, which represents the heart and soul of the active outdoor community,†said Mona West, marketing director for Therm-a-Rest. “It brings to life the significant cultural and environmental movements happening around the world and connects us with writers, filmmakers and artists who let us live for a moment in the real world of awe-inspiring athletes and jaw-dropping expeditions.â€
In celebration of the Banff Mountain Film Festival and tour, Therm-a-Rest will give away one Antares 20 °F (-7 °C) sleeping bag (a US$349 value) to a lucky winner at select screenings. At just 1 lb. 15 oz. (890g), the 750+ fill goose down Antares bag is highly compressible and equipped with two patent-pending Synergy Link mattress connectors for a secure, more comfortable night’s sleep.
Therm-a-Rest will also host a product display table at the festival in Banff and at a number of screenings on the tour, including the always-sold-out three-night screening in its hometown of Seattle, Washington, Nov. 28-30 at The Mountaineers Program Center. Attendees can preview the new Therm-a-Rest sleeping bags and talk with a representative. Details and updates will be available on the Therm-a-Rest Facebook page and Twitter feed.
