Therm-a-Rest ToughSkin Wins OutDoor Industry Award

Seattle, WA. – The Therm-a-Rest® ToughSkin™ puncture-resistant self-inflating air mattress has won a Silver OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD at the 2006 European OutDoor Trade Fair. The design competition, debuting this year, received 153 product submissions from 21 countries. An international jury of experts selected seven top products for gold and silver awards.
The OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD was established to recognize those companies showing innovative technologies in the outdoor industry with appropriate functionality and design. The hope is the award will offer consumers purchasing guidance and give industry members incentive to gain competitive exposure.

Therm-a-Rest’s new design construction sandwiches the mattress’ air-holding seal between a top layer of open-cell foam and a bottom layer of closed-cell foam. These layers are then joined with the Therm-a-Rest guaranteed foam-to-fabric bond. The air-holding seal is protected by a bottom layer of closed-cell foam, allowing these mattresses to be extremely puncture-resistant and provides unprecedented protection from thorns and sharp rocks. ToughSkin will be available in stores November 2006.
