SEATTLE, WA (Oct 19, 2016) Nikwax®, the global leader in aftercare products for outdoor performance gear and apparel, and Protect Our Winters (POW) will be joining forces this Fall to protect gear and advance the environmental awareness of the snow sports participant. Through consumer engagement and events, the two entities share a message of enjoying winter activities and minimizing the impact to the environment.

POW will be a non-profit beneficiary of Nikwax this fall through a number of consumer-facing events. Nikwax will be educating snow sports participants on the importance of caring for their snow apparel and gloves, while simultaneously raising awareness and funds for POW.

“There is a natural alignment between the deep environmental commitment of Nikwax and the broad mission of POW around climate change education and advocacy. Enjoying winter is key to our customers and we’re pleased to work with POW to amplify their message,” said Nikwax President, Rick Meade.

“We’re thrilled to be part of a consumer event series with Nikwax this fall,” said POW Executive Director, Chris Steinkamp. “Our organizations share the same values of environmental responsibility and innovation, so working together gives us an opportunity to reinforce this message to consumers around the country.”

With national elections coming up on November 8, both Nikwax and POW encourage outdoor enthusiasts to register and vote.POW’s campaign, “Drop in and Vote” encourages seizing this opportunity to shape the future we want towards clean air, clean energy and a stable climate.

About Protect Our Winters (POW)
Protect Our Winters (POW) was started in 2007 by pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones who witnessed first-hand the impact of climate change on our mountains. We are the environmental voice of the global snow sports community, united towards a common goal of reducing climate change’s effects on our sports, our industry and local economies through education, advocacy and community-based activism.POW was founded on the idea that the collective power of the winter sports community is massive, and if we can all work together, the end result can be revolutionary.
