Seymour, Connecticut, USA, June 26, 2017
Thule Group, world leader in products for the active life, has been honored for its environmental stewardship at the seventh annual event held at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Aquarion Water Co., the public water company for 51 communities throughout the state of Connecticut, awarded five recipients with the Aquarion Environmental Champion Award. The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for the categories of Business, Non-Profit Organization, Adult (2 total), and Student (Grade 9-12).
Through large-scale sustainability projects, employee driven initiatives, and support from local suppliers and vendors over the past four years, Thule Group has been able to make significant improvements and build a business environment that exceeds current environmental regulations in the state.
Since 2012, Thule Group has placed a major focus on sustainability and environmentally conscious business decisions at each of our facilities and offices throughout the world. At the Seymour, Connecticut operations, manufacturing, and warehouse facility, water and energy consumption, as well as waste recycling have been particular focus areas over the past four years. In that time, the facility has reduced water consumption by 32%, reached 93% of electricity consumption from renewable sources (including solar panels on the facility’s rooftop), and has reached 97% of generated waste being recycled.
In addition to receiving the Aquarion Environmental Champion Award, Thule Group received a $2,500 grant for an environmental nonprofit project of their choice. In an effort to support the local community, Thule Group will be donating their grant to the Seymour Land Trust, a non-profit land conservation organization based in the company’s hometown of Seymour, Connecticut.
Thule Group would like to recognize not only the support of its employees in accepting this award, but also the support of local suppliers and vendors that contributed to the company’s recent success, including Nature Works (Northford, CT), Albert Brothers (Waterbury, CT), and All American Waste (New Haven, CT).
