Seattle, WA – April 17, 2017 – Pacsafe, known for providing stylish ways to keep gear sorted and secure, was awarded the Community Service Award from the Travel Goods Association for its philanthropic commitment to protecting sea turtles.

Pacsafe launched the Turtle Fund in 2014 to support global conservation efforts to protect endangered sea turtles. The company awards grants to sea turtle conservation projects.Since 2014, Pacsafe has donated more than $100,000 dollars to eight organizations in the United States, Costa Rica, Mexico, French Polynesia, Maldives, Nicaragua, and Philippines.

The 13th annual Travel Goods Association Community Service Award received 16 nominees from industry members and from the people and companies who were featured for their altruistic work in the “Democracy in Action” column in Travel Goods Showcase magazine in the past year.

An awards committee comprised of industry peers that include manufacturers and retailers reviewed nomination forms, stories, and projects to choose the winner.

The Pacsafe Turtle Fund donates funds annually to projects around the world that conserve the most endangered turtle species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUNC) red list, such as the leatherback, loggerhead, green and hawksbill turtles.

“Some of these critically endangered species have come off the IUCN red list,” said Magnus McGlashan, Managing Director and co-founder of Pacsafe. “We’re committed to a world with healthy oceans and coastlines where all marine turtles, can travel and flourish in a safe, secure and clean environment.”

Non-profit sea turtle organizations can apply for grants and funds to help support the conservation of sea turtles in their country. Projects are selected at the sole discretion of the Pacsafe Management Team who also reserves the right to seek advice from outside field experts. Applications for 2018 funding will run from August 1, 2017, toSeptember 30, 2017.
