Tubbs Introduces Evolved FLEX™ Series at OR Winter Market 2011

Biomechanical Designs Further Improve Performance

SEATTLE, Wash. (Jan. 19, 2010) – Indicative of the brand’s commitment to top-quality biomechanical designs, this season Tubbs introduces their further evolved FLEX™ Series snowshoes decks and new FLEX Series models at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2011, booth #34113. The sleeker, slimmer tail on the men’s and particularly on the women’s models enhances maneuverability, decreasing the likelihood of interference and allowing for a narrower and more natural stride. The biomechanical changes made to the award-winning FLEX design further improve performance on hard-packed snow.

The FLEX Series is the first line of ergonomic snowshoes optimized for walking on packed and variable snow. Testing done on the FLEX Series snowshoes in 2009 by the Department of Health & Exercise Science at Colorado State University revealed that for a given snowshoe tail length, the rate at which the forefoot hits the ground after heel strike is slower in FLEX Series snowshoes than on other rigid snowshoes. This translates into less stress on the muscles, bones and joints and results in a more comfortable, ergonomic snowshoeing experience.

FLEX Series Features:

  • FLEX Tail™ allows the snowshoe to roll more naturally underfoot, absorbing shock and reducing stress on the joints.
  • Torsion Deck™ adapts to variable snow conditions for traction penetration and maximum comfort on uneven terrain.
  • 3D-curved Traction Rails ensure superior sidehill grip in hard-packed or icy conditions and prevent fore-aft slippage on steep climbs and descents.
  • The Soft Strike™ zone on the FLEX NRG, much like the shock absorbing midsole found in your athletic shoes, works with the FLEX Tail™ to absorb shock and reduce stress on joints and muscles.

The FLEX Series is now available in four performance levels to accommodate a range of snowshoers, coming in men’s, women’s and children’s versions, including:
