Seattle, Wash. (October 1, 2014) –Tubbs Snowshoes puts a spotlight on breast cancer during the month of October to activate consumers to join in fundraising efforts and encourage women and men to do what they can locally to help fight breast cancer to help save lives.
With the launch of the 13th season of Tubbs’ signature event, The Tubbs Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series®, the Tubbs team aims to raise more than $200,000 to benefit Susan G. Komen® and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation™ to bring their total contribution to $3 million since the inception of the program in 2003. By partnering with Susan G. Komen and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Tubbs Snowshoes has helped to fuel groundbreaking breast cancer research as well as fund breast health screening, treatment, diagnosis, education services, and advocacy efforts across North America.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide and it is estimated that more than 1.7 million new cases of breast cancer occurred among women worldwide in 2012 according to Susan G. Komen statistics. “Knowing that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, it is imperative that we are all educated about the benefits of early detection and that we are advocates for our own breast health. We are encouraging friends and family to take a few moments this month to learn more about breast cancer, its risk factors, and what you can do to help provide breast health services to women and families in need in your community,” says Stephanie Yankeh, Events Manager for the Tubbs Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series.
“Our team has been deeply impacted by the disease and we all feel incredibly passionate about providing a fun, healthy, and inspiring way to give back within our local breast cancer communities.” says Kelsey Boyce, Tubbs Marketing Coordinator. “We are calling on our friends and partners in the industry to join us in the fight against breast cancer not only this October, but all year round.”
