Each July, SIA hosts the Summer Snowdown in midtown Manhattan, giving New York City-journalists from television, magazine, newspaper and online outlets the chance to mix, mingle and meet with SIA members and learn about their latest products.

“The Summer Snowdown is a terrific opportunity for SIA Members to get in front of NYC-based media that may not have the time or travel budget to attend the Snow Show,” said SIA public relations manager, Elizabeth Hurst. “There’s just something about talking snow sports on a muggy July day in Manhattan—journalists are looking for fresh ideas for their winter pieces and dreaming about cooler weather,” Hurst added.

Twenty SIA members will be showcased at this year’s Snowdown as well as two snow sports non-profit organizations: Apex Sports Group, LLC, Bench, DAKINE, DPS SKIS, Élan Skis, Fischer Skis, Krimson Klover, Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, Malibu Cowboy LLC, Neve Designs, Never Summer Industries, PrimaLoft®, Quiksilver Inc, RAMP Sports, Ripzone/Powder Room, Scott Sports, Sport Obermeyer Ltd., Spyder Active Sports Inc., Thule Inc, Transpack, Winter Trails and ZEAL Optics.

The last Summer Snowdown attracted 64 journalists from 68 top media outlets including The New York Times, Newsweek, Popular Mechanics, O-The Oprah Magazine, Sports Illustrated, SHAPE, InStyle Magazine, Maxim—representing a combined circulation of 50 million.

SIA’s Summer Snowdown is a by invitation media-only event. Qualified journalists interested in attending should contact Kristan Clarke at kristan@rendezvouseventmanagement.com for more information.
