Ultra-Durable Olympus Sock Goes the Distance
KEEN unveils one of the world’s most durable hiking socks in Spring/Summer 2013
Portland, OR – July 26, 2012 – This spring KEEN unveils the Olympus, one of the world’s longest-lasting socks with fiber that can withstand even the harshest environments for long periods of time.
“This season, KEEN has created a sock that will go the distance: the incredibly durable Olympus sock,” said Catriona Shannon, socks product line manager. “This new style has exceeded all of our expectations. We cannot wait for long-distance hikers to enjoy these comfortable socks step after step, mile after mile, day after day. They will truly go the extra mile.”
The body of the sock is made of moisture-wicking, non-itch merino wool while the toe and heel are reinforced with Dura-Zone, which contains a patented fiber proven to be 15 times stronger than steel, on a weight for weight basis. This incredibly resilient material provides superior abrasion resistance.
The socks are both durable and comfortable thanks to a range of new technologies. The new heel pocket construction called the Heel Hold provides a snug fit and continuous comfort. Plus, they feature a 90-degree angle between the ankle and foot and KEEN’s signature left and right fit. Both attributes allow the Olympus socks to perfectly envelope the shape of each foot.
Like all of the socks in the KEEN collection, Olympus socks are knitted with a hidden Wundersteam under the toe to eliminate bunching and irritation, and with comfort zones right where they are needed.
The socks are available for both men and women and come in two weights: Lite and Medium.
“Try them on, try them out on the trail, and just try to wear them out,” said Shannon. “We bet you’ll wear out before they do.”
