uvex develops N. American pro-athlete team

Haverhill, MA– October 28, 2016 – As a result of uvex’s recent rebirth as a North American leader in snow and cycling protection gear, this 90-year-old brand is actively developing a team of elite athletes to represent the most modern and safest technologies in helmets and eyewear available on the market. Today, uvex announces U.S. Ski Team pro Tommy Biesemeyer as their first North American alpine ski racer enlisted on the team.

A product of the New York Ski Education Foundation program, Biesemeyer rose to racing fame in the 2009 World Junior Championships as a standout in Super G. He quickly made his way onto the U.S. Ski team and has since developed a consistent and competitive standing in both the World Cup and World Championship circuits dating back to 2012.

“When I began my ski racing career, uvex was not only the safest helmet and goggle, it was the must-have helmet and goggle,” said Tommy Biesemeyer. “Now, as I reach my goals on the World Cup circuit, uvex is the only company I feel comfortable and satisfied going 90 MPH in. I am happy to be back with the uvex family, they exemplify the same core values I demonstrate with my skiing.”

The creation of an uvex professional athlete team, spanning both snow and cycling markets, is central in uvex’s commitment to protecting sports enthusiasts of all abilities with the most stylish eye and head protection. With the addition of a U.S. Ski Team standout that is recognized for his ability to crush technical courses in the iciest of conditions, uvex is upholding their commitment to making athletes feel comfortable and protected, no matter the adventure or speed.

“We are excited to have Tommy back as part of the uvex team. His drive to be the best mirrors uvex’s DNA and brings an added edge to our NA team roster,” said Jeff Burkley, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for uvex sports Inc. “uvex has been protecting people for over 90 years, with more than 270 Olympic medals. Our NEW race focus in North America begins with Tommy.”

Look out for Biesemeyer this season on the World Cup circuit; he’ll be outfitted in the uvex race 3 carbon helmet, downhill 2000 goggles, and big 40 goggles. For more information on uvex’s snow offerings, please visit uvex-sports.us.
