April 2, 2009 – Elite runner and Vasque trail team member, Duncan Callahan, clinches a prestigious victory at the Moab 100 ultra this past weekend in the desert of Southern Utah. Only days before the official announcement of the impressive 2009 trail team roster, Vasque is proud to set the pace among the competitive field of trail runners with this strong early season podium finish.
Duncan Callahan, a young and talented ultra runner based out of Gunnison, Colorado, posted his first win of the season finishing the Moab 100 on Sunday, March 29th in a time of 18:51. Callahan, who is fairly new to the trail running circuit, already clenched a second place victory last month at the Rocky Raccoon 50 miler and has his sites on many top finishes for the 2009 season. His primary goals include medals at the Colorado Marathon, the Teva Mountain games, and a repeat victory at the Leadville 100.
On his recent podium finish, Callahan had this to say, “The Moab 100 was an incredibly grueling early season race. I felt great from the get-go and could tell my winter training regiment was paying off. By lap 10, I was sailing with strong legs and big confidence. I leave Utah completely charged and inspired for the season.â€
