Vasque Athlete Duncan Callahan Wins Again in Leadville

Duncan Callahan gave an incredible, flawless performance during the Lifetime Fitness Leadville Trail 100 this past weekend. The high-profile 100-mile “Race Across the Sky” attracted over 800 entrants including renowned racers Anton Krupicka and Hal Koerner. Callahan’s winning time of 17:43:24 earned him a 2-time victory and a personal record for the difficult, high-altitude race that has participants climbing over 12,500 feet.

“It was definitely one of my best races. There were about 40 miles when I didn’t feel 100%, but once I got into my rhythm, I felt good and strong. ” notes Callahan. “It also helps that I have the very best support group and crew.”

Staying ahead of his estimated time, Callahan ran a majority of the race in 2nd place pulling into 1st with just 13 miles remaining. Callahan contributes a great part of the win to his crew consisting of wife, Annie, brother, Bill, who traveled from Rochester, NY for the event, and friends from his alma mater of Western State College. Next up, Callahan will head to the Vasque PROJECT Grand Teton 100 mile race in Alta, WY, Labor Day weekend.

Crossing the finish line in second place with a time of 18:25:30 was Zeke Tiernan followed by Dylan Bowman in 18:36:15. The top female finishers were Elizabeth Howard of San Antonio, TX with a time of 21:19:37 followed by Stephanie Jones 22:35:05 and Ashley Hunter Arnold 23:08:16.8.

Vasque Trail Team member, Dan Dehlin, also gave an impressive performance finishing the race and his first ever 100 mile event in sub 23 hours. Dehlin, recovering from severe knee surgery just last year, has had an incredible season winning the Navarino Trail Marathon and an overall win at the Run the Keweenaw in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Dehlin was also aided by a supportive crew that traveled from afar including his wife, Lindsey, family, and close friends.
