North America’s largest fleet of Mobile Bike Shops adds vaunted Belgian manufacturer to velofix DIRECT program, providing the crucial final step in direct-to-consumer sales
January 6, 2017: Bicycles from Eddy Merckx Cycles, the eponymous brand belonging to cycling legend Eddy Merckx may now be ordered directly on eddymerckx.com with optional fulfillment by velofix DIRECT, a premium direct-to-consumer service operated by North America’s largest fleet of Mobile Bike Shops. Merckx Cycles will be joining the likes of BH, Spot, elby, Ellsworth, and a full suite of other premium bike brands already available through the velofix DIRECT program, which was launched in 2016.

Currently, 85 velofix franchises are operating in North America, ensuring comprehensive delivery coverage in every major Canadian market and most key American markets. Eddy Merckx bikes delivered by velofix DIRECT will be fully built and tested by a professional velofix mechanic, and delivered directly to the customer at the time and location of their choosing, thanks to a proprietary route-optimized booking software unique to velofix. Each velofix DIRECT delivery also includes a professional fitting session and a complimentary tune-up after 30 days, ensuring an elite riding experience worthy of the Belgian legend himself.
“We’re extremely pleased to be starting off 2017 with a storied brand like Eddy Merckx,” said velofix co-founder Chris Guillemet. “Eddy’s discerning eye for performance and design, and his well-documented perfectionist tendencies when it comes to looking after his bikes are all mutually shared hallmarks that we’re particularly proud to safeguard.”
The Eddy Merckx partnership with velofix DIRECT goes further than just direct customer distribution, with planned in-van mobile demos, strategic promotion and sales opportunities, and ongoing customer maintenance and routine service for any Merckx bike owner. Sales of Eddy Merckx Cycles begin at eddymerckx.com, and bike delivery and in-home customer builds through velofix will start in January throughout all velofix territories in North America. Brands interested in the velofix DIRECT program may contact Ward Grootjans at ward@velofix.com.
