New York, NY – April 12, 2016 – The legendary, French sunglass brand Vuarnet, manufacturer of timeless, sport-elegant sunglasses and the finest mineral lenses with unparalleled protection, precision and durability, announced today the selection of acclaimed, French actor, Vincent Cassel as the new face of the brand. Cassel, an iconic and internationally recognized actor, embodies the core values of Vuarnet – authenticity, optimism, elegance and performance. The campaign shot in Rio de Janeiro featuring Cassel will debut this month as the brand accelerates its reintroduction to the U.S. market.

“Our decision to choose Vincent Cassel as the new face of Vuarnet was extremely easy,” explains Lionel Giraud, CEO of Vuarnet. “He is a French actor with an international reputation. He is a talented, generous, charismatic and instinctive person. He never sits still, and is known for his boundless energy and his love of the great outdoors and surfing. He perfectly encapsulates the very essence of Vuarnet: elegance and movement.”

Cassel, best known in the U.S. for his roles in Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen as well as in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, will appear in the latest Bourne sequel scheduled for release this summer. For the Vuarnet campaign, renowned photographer Marcel Hartmann shot Cassel in Rio de Janeiro – at the beach where he surfs, in a restaurant that he frequents, and in the heart of the vibrant city.

“Vuarnet is an iconic brand,” says Cassel of his decision to accept the role. “Their products feature top-quality lenses and embody cool style. When I was 20, they were the must-have accessory. Back then, I had a pair of model 03 glasses, which I wore for years. I’m thrilled to have been selected as Vuarnet’s ambassador. The brand’s products are French, and I like the idea of helping Vuarnet to reclaim its rightful place and build on its excellent reputation. I’m particularly fond of things that are new and unique.”
