San Leandro, California-January 10, 2006, JanSport’s Fall 2006 collection features backpacks and apparel updated with the latest technologies for today’s tech-savvy consumer. The JanSport LiveWire Lounge will debut at Outdoor Retailer in booth #3341. The LiveWire Lounge is a unique setting that allows retailers to get comfortable while testing the JanSport backpacks and apparel that are connected to Apple’s popular iPod®. The lounge will also be the setting for a sweepstakes where JanSport will give winners an iPod®.

Created with iPod® features, JanSport introduces the new proprietary LiveWireâ„¢ system with connectivity to Apple’s top-selling iPod®. LiveWireâ„¢ enables users to listen to their iPod® with an integrated remote control and cord management. JanSport backpacks and apparel offer three different options: LiveWireâ„¢, LiveWire+â„¢, and LiveWireBTâ„¢.

The ultimate in JanSport’s backpack connectivity, LiveWireBTâ„¢ utilizes Bluetooth technology to link a mobile phone and an iPod® for hands-free use when carrying a backpack. Measuring only 3” long and 1” wide, JanSport’s five button keypad is integrated into the right strap and allows for iPod® controls; including volume, forward, reverse, pause and play. JanSport’s exclusive power-off function extends the battery life, while similar devices in the market can only pause music, which can drain battery power. A call-retrieve button, located on the opposite strap, enables users to stop music and switch to phone calls with the push of one button. Both mobile phone and iPod® stay protected from the elements in JanSport’s V-loft electronic pocket.

Extending the capabilities of JanSport backpacks and apparel, LiveWire+â„¢ offers full control of your iPod® with an unobtrusive keypad comfortably integrated into backpack straps and tastefully aligned with apparel zippers. This keypad gives users five-button control of iPod® features; including volume, forward, reverse, pause, and play. The five-button technology allows users to extend battery life with a unique power-off button. JanSport’s LiveWire+ styles have a dual port connection allowing for compatibility with a third generation iPod®.

While carrying a JanSport backpack, LiveWireâ„¢ makes listening to music simple. A universal jack incorporated in the right strap connects to headphones, while an interior universal cord plugs into CD and MP3 players. JanSport’s V-Loft pocket holds the music player inside the backpack, protecting it from the elements, and a cord manager creates simple, convenient organization for headphone wires.
