VOORMI® Unveils The Next 20 Years of Weatherproof Fabric Technology: CORE CONSTRUCTION™
Pagosa Springs, CO (January 16, 2015) — VOORMI®, an innovator of domestically sourced Precision Blended Wool, today unveiled the future of weatherproof textile technology. VOORMI’s CORE CONSTRUCTION™ Technology ushers in a new age of weatherproof fabric construction by delivering the first truly single-layer fabric to contain an integrated weather protective membrane.
This innovation, the most recent in a line of breakthrough fabrics from VOORMI, represents a seismic shift in weatherproofing technology: transitioning from decades-old lamination and coating technologies to the integration of weather resistant barriers and other functional cores directly into textiles.
“From the beginning, it’s been our goal to continually challenge the accepted pace of innovation in the textile world.” Notes Dan English, CEO of VOORMI. “We’ve challenged everything about the manufacturing process and in doing so have been able to bring about industry-changing technology in just a few short years. It’s incredibly exciting to see what happens from here.”
CORE CONSTRUCTION™ Technology refers to a new breakthrough process of co-constructing knit textiles around “functional cores” — often a waterproof membrane. During development, VOORMI may fine tune water resistance and airflow to perfectly match the textile’s properties with the product’s intended use.
Timm Smith, Marketing Director at VOORMI, says: “With this entirely new and breakthrough construction platform, we’re able to create a whole spectrum and balance of air permeability, weather protection, softness and abrasion resistance. CORE CONSTRUCTION™ Technology to us represents an entirely new platform for innovation, a reset button of what’s possible in the world of performance composites.”
In practice, CORE CONSTRUCTION™ Technology will unlock previously impossible or improbable apparel possibilities. “Ultimately the goal with CORE CONSTRUCTION™ is to change the user experience by building products that work across a wider range of outdoor activities,” says Smith, “Imagine your favorite mid-layer, or even your favorite base layer made windproof or significantly more water resistant without losing any of the thinness or softness you love about the fabric.”
VOORMI will be showcasing three new products utilizing CORE CONSTRUCTION™ Technology at the SIA Tradeshow January 28 – February 1. Booth # 4369
