Wenner Media names Francis Farrell publisher of Men's Journal

Wenner Media Chairman Jann Wenner announced today that Francis Farrell has been named publisher of Men’s Journal. Farrell replaces Will Schenck, who became publisher of Wenner Media’s Rolling Stone last month.

NEW YORK – Wenner Media Chairman Jann Wenner announced today that Francis Farrell has been named publisher of Men’s Journal. Farrell replaces Will Schenck, who became publisher of Wenner Media’s Rolling Stone last month.

As Men’s Journal publisher, Farrell will be responsible for overseeing the magazine’s advertising sales department located in seven cities – New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago, and Milan. Farrell was most recently publisher of National Geographic Adventure, a position he held since June 2003. In January 2006 Farrell was promoted to vice president and publisher of the magazine. Before joining National Geographic Adventure, Farrell was general manager/senior vice president/publisher of The Sporting News. Farrell has also held a variety of management positions at American Express Publishing with Food & Wine and Travel & Leisure magazines.

Farrell lives with his wife and five children in Yorktown Heights, N.Y.

In 2008 Men’s Journal’s ad pages are up 8.5% through its November issue(1,133 vs. 1,043). This follows 2007’s ad page gain of 16%(1,251 vs. 1080)
