What's Up PR 20 Years Logo

Located in Denver, Colorado, and founded in Bozeman, Montana in 1997, What’s UP Public Relations says thank you. Thank you, with all sincerity, for twenty years representing and contributing to the growth of international and national brands entering the US specialty Snow, Outdoor, and Bicycle marketplaces.

Having worked for major accounts including Bausch and Lomb, I SKI eyewear, K2 packs, Marker Bindings, and National Geographic, founder Beth Cochran launched her hybrid business model in 1997. Serving emerging multi-million dollar companies, her agency was one of the first specialized satellite communication firms in the business of media relations for outdoor and ski companies. What’s UP expertise provides immediate direction in advertising plans, budget planning, communications, events, media relations and trade show support for iconic generational brands entering the US specialty sport markets.

Twenty years later, with over a dozen international brands, What’s UP PR continues to serve new generations of boutique outdoor brands that are focused on sustainability, generational manufacturing, and independent ownership.

“I am asked how did it all start with oversea business?” recalls What’s UP Founder Beth Cochran. “Back in the day, I was working closely with OIA with Frank Hugelmeyer’s leadership. Frank knew of my corporate work and recommended my new hybrid firm to brands like Lafuma France entering the US. Lafuma then recommended me to Deuter Germany, then Coocon Austria, Chaos Canada and so forth. I cannot express my gratitude enough to the colleagues, peer PR agencies, writers and publishers and athletes that have supported our work over the years.”

The team at What’s UP is dynamic, devoted and passionate about the lifestyle we promote. We are pleased to highlight Chip Smith with Soar Communications as market advisor and PR strategist on key accounts. Chip’s passion for sports has been the impetus for his successful 25-year marketing career in the sporting goods, healthcare, software and communications industries.

Kim Rapkins, in Content Editing, has joined the team from New York. After graduating from Columbia University, Kim earned her master’s degree in journalism. She has worked as a content writer and digital media strategist in the fashion, performing arts and outdoor industries for nearly a decade. In 2015, Kim returned to her hometown of Denver, CO, where she loves to hike, bike, backpack, travel, and write fiction. Liza Solberg supports client content for social media account strategies. Liza graduated from Colgate University in 2014 and, like many, moved to Colorado because of her love for the outdoors. Her experiences in marketing have allowed her to perfect her social media and digital advertising skills along with her knack for events, PR and customer service. Isa Almy has recently joined the team as an Account Executive. Isa is a Portland transplant and graduate of the University of Denver. Almy brings energy, creativity and event experience to the team. She is an avid skier, traveler, yogi and outdoor enthusiast.

We celebrate this year with a new website design, www.What’sUPPR.com, our family of clients, and a pledge to further protect our lands and national parks. We hope you will join us in a collective cause to raise $20,000 for our parks in 2017-2018. Please visit this link to make any level of contribution. https://bitly.com/
