Sunnyvale, Calif.,– White Sierra, an outdoor brand with a heritage that extends back 29 years, announces an exciting partnership with American Hiking Society to promote hiking, increase membership and establish, protect and maintain foot trails in America.
“White Sierra Outdoor Apparel is excited to partner with American Hiking Society in bringing attention to the nation’s hiking trails and recreation opportunities†said Al Whitworth, White Sierra’s Director of Marketing.
A membership drive will be featured through retail hangtags and signage that will be shipped in spring 2009 with White Sierra’s most popular hiking and outdoor styles such as the versatile Convertible Trail Pant and the sun-protection Kalgoorlie UPF shirts. “White Sierra’s hiking and outdoor apparel is designed for people to enjoy the outdoors,†Al Whitworth said. “American Hiking provides a wealth of outdoor access knowledge and experience. We are happy to introduce our customers to the Society’s resources and we hope that they will enjoy membership benefits as much as we have.â€
In addition to the satisfaction of speaking up for hikers and helping establish, protect, and maintain hiking trails each membership includes:
• A subscription to American Hiker magazine
• A subscription to Backpacker magazine
• Members-only discounts on merchandise such as books and gear.
• The opportunity to participate in members-only Volunteer Vacations.
A kickoff event will be held at White Sierra’s booth (21031) at 1:00 PM the first day of the Summer Outdoor Retailer Show. “We’ll be holding a membership drive, and handing out goodies including our Sierra Tek jackets to those that sign up, as well as those that are already American Hiking members,†said Al Whitworth.
American Hiking Society president Gregory A. Miller said, “As the national voice for America’s hikers, American Hiking Society promotes and protects foot trails and the hiking experience. Our deep roots in outdoor recreation, advocacy, volunteering and experiencing nature through hiking bring me enormous pride and satisfaction.â€
