Charlottesville, VA, February 17th, 2014 – The Charlottesville Marathon has a long standing relationship with the local Whole Foods Market. As the Title sponsor of the Half Marathon, Whole Foods Market has played a strong role in the growth and vitality of the race and offered immense community support. This relationship continues to flourish this year with the addition of “Bibs & Breakfast” – a pre-race breakfast option to dine with fellow runners and pick up your bib early, as well as the “Whole Kids” Mile.
The Charlottesville Marathon has always included the Kids Mile as a way to encourage the families of the runners, as well as children in the local community, to get active. This mission coincides with that of the Whole Kids Foundation, which encourages children’s nutrition and wellness.
“The Whole Kids Foundation is very excited to sponsor theCharlottesville Kids Mile in 2014. It really brings our relationship with the community and the Charlottesville Marathon, Half Marathon & 8K full circle to be able to encourage healthy eating and wellness not only with the adult participants, but also with the kids as well” said Kristen Rabourdin, Marketing Team Leader for the Charlottesville Whole Foods Market.
The Whole Kids Mile will start shortly after 9am on April 5th, 2014 on the Charlottesville Historic Downtown Mall. Kids can sign up the day of the race, or online at www.charlottesvillemarathon.com
