Women’s Adventure Partners with Adventure Film Festival

Women’s Adventure, the only outdoor sports, travel and lifestyle magazine for active women, has partnered as a sponsor with the Boulder-based Adventure Film Festival to increase the presence of adventuresome women competing in this year’s festival. Boulder, Colorado, March 12, 2009 – Women’s Adventure, the only outdoor sports, travel and lifestyle magazine for active women, has partnered as a sponsor with the Boulder-based Adventure Film Festival to increase the presence of adventuresome women competing in this year’s festival. Women who are actively participating in outdoor activities — and documenting it on camera — are encouraged to submit films by, about, and for women to compete for the first-ever Women’s Adventure Award.

Celebrating its fifth year in 2009, The Adventure Film Festival brings to Boulder each November a variety of astonishing and inspiring films regarding our environment, the outdoors and the people who explore it. Each year, the festival features more than 30 independent films celebrating alpinism, climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, and other wild pursuits. Presented by Patagonia, Intrepid Travel and other leading outdoor companies, the festival attracts over 4,000 enthusiastic viewers in three nights of presentations, workshops and special events.

All films produced, directed or featuring women and submitted to The Adventure Film Festival are automatically entered for consideration for the Women’s Adventure Award. Deadline for submission for the 2009 Festival is June 15. Films may also be submitted directly to Women’s Adventure for review and consideration. Selected films by women will also be reviewed in upcoming editions of Women’s Adventure magazine, providing additional support to the filmmaker.
