Stamford, Connecticut – February 11 –X-Technology, the manufacturer of X-Socks, has won a prestigeous ISPO European Ski Award in the Other category for their new Ski Metal sock technology. The sock features the company’s proprietary metallic XITANITâ„¢ yarn that effectively reflects heat onto the foot and maintains it at the body’s natural temperature, much the way silver mylar rescue blankets work for emergency use. This combats cold feet, the number one complaint of skiers all over the world. The announcement was made during the ISPO trade fair held in Munich, Germany, February 1-4.

The European Ski Award honors the best new ski products each season for Hardware, Ski Boots, Ski Bindings, Nordic, and Other. The winning products and companies were presented to the international press at the ISPO on-snow preview held right before the trade show opened. The number of participants and entries grows each year, confirming the international magnitude of these coveted awards. Sports experts from all over the world analyze, test, scrutinize, and nominate the latest trends and innovations from the various segments. X-Technology is proud to be a winner.

In January, 2007, LOWA Boots LLC acquired U.S. distribution rights for X-Socks®. Based in Asola, Italy, X-Socks designs and manufactures X-Socks and X-Bionic Underwear. Both brands are headquartered in the LOWA offices in Stamford, Connecticut. The socks cross over many market boundaries including outdoor, hunting, biking, golf, and military. The underwear targets active sports such as skiing, biking, winter hiking, and climbing. LOWA is active in most of these markets so there is built-in synergy between the two brands.
LOWA sells, markets, and distributes a complete line of four season outdoor footwear for walking, hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, field sports, and professional task force use as well as everyday use. The company has also acquired distribution rights to the Tecnica Outdoor Footwear Division for the U.S. market, beginning with the introduction of the spring 2008 collections. The division encompasses both Tecnica hiking boots and T-Shoes urban adventure travel footwear.
