Outdoor financials: Cold-weather boosts Forzani’s holiday sales

Forzani Group (FGL.TO), Canada's largest sporting goods retailer, said total retail system sales for the 10-week period ended Jan. 9 were up 6.5 percent as the cold weather boosted Christmas sales.

Cold-weather boosts Forzani holiday sales

Forzani Group (FGL.TO), Canada’s largest sporting goods retailer, said total retail system sales for the 10-week period ended Jan. 9 were up 6.5 percent as the cold weather boosted Christmas sales.

It said retail system sales — retail sales from corporate and franchise stores — rose 7 percent for the holiday season on a same-store basis.

Corporate same-store sales were up 9.4 percent, while franchise retail same-store sales grew 2.7 percent.

Forzani operates more than 550 retail outlets under banners such as Sport Chek, National Sport, Sport Mart and others.
