Did you hear?…Car crashes into Florida Gyms to Go store
The wheels were still spinning on the 2002 Camry when assistant manager Mario Silva emerged from behind the wall that had stopped the car – and no, the store does not offer drive-through shopping nor does it have any plans to. Apparently, the driver felt a drive-through was a good idea as the car smashed through the front glass windows of Busy Body/Gyms to Go in Miami, Fla., around 11 a.m. June 22.

The wheels were still spinning on the 2002 Camry when assistant manager Mario Silva emerged from behind the wall that had stopped the car — and no, the store does not offer drive-through shopping nor does it have any plans to. Apparently, the driver felt a drive-through was a good idea as the car smashed through the front glass windows of Busy Body/Gyms to Go in Miami, Fla., around 11 a.m. June 22.

“When it happened, I was in the back room and heard what sounded like a plane crashing or a bomb. For some reason, a car was the last thing I thought about,” Silva told SNEWS®. “The car stopped, but the wheels were still spinning. And if that wall hadn’t stopped it — I was right behind the wall.”
Silva said that he saw an elderly couple emerge from the car, and they did not appear to be injured. He wouldn’t speculate on what caused the couple to drive through the 20-foot-tall plate glass windows, and he had no estimate of the damage. However, he said the car plowed though treadmills, multi-gyms and a Bowflex.
Oddly, Silva subsequently saw reports of similar incidents in Miami, he told us. “I just saw on the news two other crashes, and I remember that one was a UPS store,” said Silva. “It makes you think. I was getting a new phone, and I told the AT&T employee who was next to the store’s window that he better be careful; a car could come right through there.”
No kidding. Next time the SNEWS crew is shopping in Miami we’re staying away from the front windows. And we’re sure glad nobody was injured in this freak accident.
