Owners of Rock/Creek Outfitters have sold the business to Uncle Dan’s Outfitters, a subsidiary of Camping World Holdings Inc., according to multiple news reports.

The specialty outdoor retailer has served Tennessee and beyond for more than 30 years. In 2017, it was bought by Chad Wykle and Jonathan Scott from founders Dawson Wheeler and Marvin Webb.

In addition to its ecommerce side, the company has seven brick-and-mortar locations in  Chattanooga, Cleveland, Franklin, and near Benton, Tenn.

In 2016, Rock/Creek won Grassroots Outdoor Alliance’s Most Innovative Retailer Award.

Uncle Dan’s Outfitters, a Chicago-based, family-owned chain, was acquired in October 2017 by Camping World, one of the largest networks of RV-centric retail locations.

In January 2018, Camping World scooped up Erehwon Mountain Outfitter, an iconic 45-year old specialty outdoor retailer with locations in Glendale, Wisconsin, and three in the Chicago area.

Camping World is in buying mode this year. It’s snapping up Nashville-based Cullum & Maxey Camping Center for an undisclosed amount. The company also expects to announce several additional markets of expansion throughout the country this year.
