In its 33rd year, the annual IHRSA convention and trade show continues to grow.

The 2014 edition (March 12-15) will feature 375 exhibiting companies, occupying 190,000 square feet of space at the San Diego Convention Center, making it one of the largest in the event’s history.

The San Diego location “is always one of our most popular venues — the show was last there in 2010 — and members and exhibitors are excited to return,” IHRSA Spokeswoman Meredith Poppler said.

The trade-show portion of the event takes place Thursday and Friday, March 13-14, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Exercise classes led by some the world’s best instructors and programs will be offered to all attendees on all four days — that includes a water fitness class in the hotel pool — and the exhibit hall will be open to workouts on Friday morning from 6:30-8:30 a.m.

While IHRSA is a club and gym show, it tends to provide leading indicators for the home and specialty fitness retail market.

Poppler said attendees can best prepare for the show with the IHRSA App, allowing registered attendees to personalize their experience by identifying the sessions, exhibitors, speakers and other show features that interest them most. The app, which runs on a smart phone or computer, will help manage schedules with sessions, appointments, and connections.

The convention portion of the show runs all four days, from Wednesday through Saturday, March 12-15, featuring more than 100 educational sessions covering the latest fitness topics. Check out the sessions here.

In addition, each day will be headlined by a general session featuring an outside-of-the-industry innovative thinker, such as Sally Hogshead, Dan Heath, Gary Vaynerchuk and Luke Williams.

Heading into the show, SNEWS wants to know about your new brands and/or products debuting at the show. Send us an email by Monday, March 3 and we’ll include what’s new in our upcoming coverage.
