Just announced are the winners of the “BrandNew” awards by the ispo trade show. One overall winner and seven category winners were selected from 282 applicants from 28 countries. Each winner will show the company’s products at ispo, Feb. 6-9, 2011, in Munich, Germany.

Overall: 360ball (South Africa – www.360ball.net) is the first ball sport in history that captures competitive play around a central point of a circle. It is also the first ball or racquet sport invented in Africa and the first new ball sporting concept since 1950, according to the ispo jury.

Accessories: Recon Instruments’ (Canada – www.reconinstruments.com) goggles with a GPS provide data in real-time on the slopes. Know exactly how fast, how far or how long. Evaluate all the data later on your computer.

Summer hardware: Klymit (USA – www.klymit.com) is the lightest and smallest sleeping pad for people who care about every last ounce.

Winter Hardwear: Silbaerg (Germany — www.silbaerg.com) is a new concept in snowboards with a construction style unlike others.

Fitness: Airstreeem (Austria — www.airstreeem.com) is a cycle trainer for all levels on which you use your own road bike.

Cycle sports (“Wheeler”): Ego Kits (Austria – www.ego-kits.com) has an electric kit you attach to your normal downhill bike, and off you go with an extra 1200 watts of power.

Sportswear: Peak Zero (Austria — www.peakzero.at) has advanced apparel, matching the needs of special rescue teams.

Style: Nau (USA – www.nau.com) combines urban style and outdoor functionality on an unprecedented level, with a huge emphasis on sustainable and durable fabrics.

Social Awareness: “Ich will da rauf!”* (Germany — www.iwdr.de) is a Munich-based climbing club for those with and without handicaps so all can climb together. (*Translation: I want to get up there!)

In addition, the jury chose 37 finalists in the eight categories — accessories, summer hardware, winter hardware, “wheeler” (cycling), sportswear, style, fitness and social awareness. Click here to see them all
