Whether you are looking for a new job or just interested in networking, a conference in careers in sports in Dallas later this month emphasizes education in networking and presenting yourself, not just handing out resumes.
The 18th Annual Sports Careers Conference will take place June 28-30 and is expecting to bring together more than 45 industries related to sports and sports entertainment. Keynote speaker is Nolan Ryan.
“The contacts that can be made are huge,” said Todd Udowitch, vice president of sales for Spirit Fitness, who will be a speaker at the conference on a panel about sporting goods and consumer products.
Udowitch said whether you are already employed in sports, fitness or related industries, want to get into them, or just want to see what else is out there, the conference is a good resource for all levels of experience. He said it also gives participants practice at presenting themselves as well as a jump-start in meeting people for the future.
“It’s pretty much who you know,” he added. “What we’ve learned will transfer into other industries too.”
Panels and sessions are related to sports marketing, amateur athletics, creating relationships, sizing up compensation, sports media and searching for jobs.
