Despite Outdoor Retailer canceling its November trade show, Grassroots Outdoor Alliance will return to Denver for its national buying event.
The Grassroots Connect show will be held from Nov. 1 to 5 in the ground floor ballrooms of the Colorado Convention Center—the same setting as its fall 2018 event. Member-only education and shareholder meetings will happen at the beginning of the show.
“We wanted to create as seamless of a transition as possible to the new calendar, make the least amount of changes for everyone involved, and still do our best to improve the experience for retailers and vendors,” Grassroots President Rich Hill said. “While we’ve made some minor adjustments, for the vast majority of Grassroots Connect attendees the show will operate and flow as it usually does.”
Outdoor Retailer on Aug. 21 pulled the plug on its second November show based on “ongoing feedback” and will combine the Winter Market with the Snow Show in January 2019. Right after the announcement went out in a newsletter, Hill sent a letter to members that they had just been informed. “Don’t change your flights just yet,” he wrote in all caps.
The fall show is currently at capacity, as all previously announced retailers and vendor brands are slated to attend.
The group’s annual spring buying show takes place in June in Knoxville, Tennessee.
