OIA Industry Breakfast
7 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency, 650 15th St.: Learn loads Outdoor Industry Association‘s keynote speakers Florence Williams, author of The Nature Fix, Chris Castilian from Great Outdoors Colorado – GOCO, and Yesica Chavez of Children and Nature Network & Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office.
Nite Ize Carnival Party
4 to 9 p.m. at the intersection of 14th and California streets: Nite Ize, the maker of all things that glow, is sponsoring a big party right outside the Convention Center. If free beer and live music from a groovy local ’80s band aren’t enough to entice you, the party is being thrown to celebrate, support, and protect 5,000 miles of wild.
Addressing Sexual Harassment and Assault in the Outdoor Industry
4 p.m. at the High Altitude Den (32083-UL): Sexual harassment and assault are so pervasive in our country that the National Institute of Health considers it a public health crisis. The outdoor industry is no exception to this rule. Join Department of Justice veteran and University of Colorado researcher, Dr. Callie Rennison, as well as data scientist and business operations strategist Charlie Lieu, for a roundtable discussion on risks and mitigation of sexual misconduct. Organizations and brands can learn steps—big and small—to take to begin combating this problem.
Outdoor Retailer After Party & Gear Grab
7 to 10:45 p.m. at Epic Brewing Company, 3001 Walnut St.: Ring in the first night of the show with Mountain Standard, OutThere Colorado, and Western Resource Advocates. Free beers and gear goes to the first 200 guests in the door, plus there’s a raffle happening all night long benefitting Western Resource Advocate’s work to protect land, water, and air. Prizes will come from Zeal Optics, Lems Shoes, Skratch Labs, Backpacker’s Pantry, Trek Light Gear, Bobo’s Oat Bars, Go Far Shop, and more of your favorites.
Industry Party
6 to 8 p.m. at the Galleria in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, 1400 Curtis St.: Sponsored by Sierra Nevada, CLIF Bar, and Red Bull, join old and new friends in playing lawn games, sampling beer and food pairings, and dancing to live music.
Climb with the Pros
6 to 8:30 p.m. at Movement Climbing Gym, 1155 5th Ave.: Join pro climbers Alex Honnold, Matty Hong, and Carlo Traversi at one of Denver’s most well-known climbing gyms, and while you’re at it, test out some shoes during the Black Diamond demo. Entry to the gym is free for the night with an OR badge, and doors close at 10 p.m.
