Outdoor Retailer has pulled industry veteran Larry Harrison out of retirement to join its staff as brand development director, Outdoor Retailer announced Monday.
Harrison, who recently retired from his position as Director of Sales for adidas Outdoor, brings more than 40 years of industry knowledge to his new role. He had worked with Eagle Creek, JanSport, Lowa, Rockport, Sierra Designs and Wilderness Experience, and he has served on the board of directors for the Outdoor Industry Association and the Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition.
“Outdoor Retailer strives to provide specialty retailers with an exceptional experience at our events and we will benefit from the insights and historical perspective that Larry brings,” Marisa Nicholson, OR VP and Show Director, said in the press release announcing Harrison’s hire. “We were thrilled to cut his retirement short for the betterment of the industry.”
Harrison is expected to travel frequently to listen to the wants and needs of the industry. Expect him to appear at your door or regional trade show, he said.
“I have been on a truly rewarding journey in our business and a change of focus from building a retail network to service and support,” Harrison said in the release. “With the goal of a stronger industry, it seems natural as I extend my career. Outdoor Retailer has an amazing team, passionate about creating a tight knit community of retailers, reps and brands to enliven the outdoor experience for the community.”
