Leading in to Mother’s Day weekend, Merrell‘s latest short film features one athlete’s upbringing and her true origin story of how she became connected to nature through her mother’s inspiration. Nadia Mercado is a skydiver, a runner, a climber, and a cardiac nurse, and her mother Clariza Valdez came to the U.S. as a housekeeper from what is today known as the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
“The wonderful thing about being outdoors is that it loves us how we are,” Mercado says in the video.
The two share an especially sweet moment at Delicate Arch in Arches National Park.
