In a crazy way, remote working has brought us here at SNEWS and Active Interest Media (our parent company) even closer together. Throughout the crisis, our CEO, Andy Clurman, has hosted weekly town hall meetings to keep us all up to speed on everything from media industry trends, company finances, challenges and opportunities, and tips on filing for unemployment to cover our one-day-a-week furlough. I’m proud of and impressed by our company’s transparency and proactive outreach throughout this challenging time.
We are a competitive bunch here at AIM. Last week during our town hall, Andy announced a contest: Post your best WFH photos and win a prize. A bunch of us from Backpacker, Climbing, Clean Eating, Yoga Journal, Outdoor Guide, National Park Trips, NatuRX, and SNEWS and The Voice, were determined to win. Rather than merely submit photos of improvised bedroom, kitchen table, and basement work stations, we cranked up the music and held a virtual dance party.
